The 54th Kerala State Film Awards was announced on Friday in Thiruvananthapuram. As expected, Aadujeevitham swept the awards winning in a total of eight categories, including Best Actor for Prithviraj, Best Director for Blessy, and Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value. Actor KR Gokul, who played the role of Hakkim, also received a Special Jury Mention.

This is Prithviraj's third win in the category after winning it previously in 2006 for Vasthavam, and in 2012 for Celluloid and Ayalum Njanum Thammil. Similarly, it is also Blessy's third win for Best Director and first for Best Screenplay, Adaptation. Earlier in 2005, he bagged the Best Original Screenplay award for Thanmathra.

Aadujeevitham's other winners include Sunil KS (Best Cinematography), Resul Pookutty and Sharath Mohan (Best Sound Mixing), Vyashak Sivaganesh (Best Laboratory/ Colourist), and Ranjith Ambady (Best Makeup).

Interacting with the media after the win, Blessy expressed his disappointment in AR Rahman not winning an award in the music category. Based on Benyamin's bestselling novel of the same name, Aadujeevitham chronicles the struggles of a Malayali migrant worker forced to slavery in the deserts of Saudi Arabia.
