Arjun Ashokan's Sumathi Valavu set to begin

The horror-fantasy marks the reunion of Malikappuram writer Abhilash Pillai and director Vishnu Sasi Shankar

Arjun Ashoka's earlier-announced horror-fantasy film Sumathi Valavu is set to be launched on August 17 with a pooja ceremony in Chottanikara temple. The film marks the reunion of Malikappuram (2022) writer Abhilash Pillai and director Vishnu Sasi Shankar.

The makers had earlier released an intriguing motion poster detailing about a haunted place called Sumathi Valavu and how it has been guarded by the spirit of a Tamil woman named Sumathi from the 18th century. Malavika Manoj, best known for her role in the Tamil film Joe (2023) plays the female lead. The cast also includes Saiju Kurup, Malikappuram-fame Devananda, Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju, Jean Paul Lal, Gopika Anil and Premalu actors Shyam Mohan and Akhila Bhargavan.

Sumathi Valavu has Ratsasan-fame P V Shankar as the cinematographer and Ranjin Raj as the composer. It is produced by Murali Kunnumpurath's Waterman Films LLP.

Arjun Ashokan is currently working on Bromance, directed by Jo and Jo-fame Arun D Jose.
