Aashirvad Cinemas released a behind-the-scenes video of Mohanlal on the sets of Barroz. The video shows Mohanlal in character and giving instructions as the director, as well as exclusive stills of the other actors in the film. Barroz is Mohanlal's directorial debut, and the actor stars in the titular role in the so-called 3D fantasy film. The film is based on 'Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure', a novel by Jijo Punnoose, and has dialogues by Kalavoor Ravikumar.

The film also stars Kallirroi Tziafeta, Ignacio Mateos, and Cesar Lorente Raton, whose character looks are revealed in the BTS video. Its crew members include DOP Santosh Sivan, sound designer Jonathan Miller, composer Lydian Nadaswaram, creative head TK Rajeev Kumar, background music by Mark Kilian, and editing by B Ajith Kumar. 

It was supposed to release on March 28, 2024, but got pushed back due to a post-production delay. The makers are expected to announce a release date soon.

Mohanlal is now on the sets of Tharun Moorthy's directorial L360, which reunites him with Shobana.
