The shoot for Aashiq Abu's new film Rifle Club is currently underway. On Saturday, Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who is making his Malayalam acting debut with this film, shared a photo from the sets on social media. In the photo, Kashyap is seen hugging director Senna Hegde, who is also starring in the film. Senna is best known for helming the National award-winning Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam (2021) and last year's Padmini. Though Kashyap shared the photo as a mark of their first meeting, the two go a long way back.

Senna's directorial debut 0-41* (2016) was picked up by Phantom Films, which had Kashyap as one of its founders. The Gangs of Wasseypur maker acquired its rights after being impressed by the trailer. However, because of the banner's dissolution, the film has not been released for the public till date.

Meanwhile, Rifle Club's shoot is progressing at a brisk pace. The film is scripted by Syam Pushkaran, Suhas and Sharafu. It also stars Dileesh Pothan, Vishnu Agasthya, Vani Viswanath, Vijayaraghavan, Vincy Aloshious, Ramzan Muhammed, Surabhi Lakshmi and Unnimaya Prasad. Produced by Aashiq Abu's OPM Cinemas in association with TRU Stories Entertainment, the film is eyeing Onam release this year.
