As Mammootty celebrates his birthday on Thursday, the makers of his upcoming film Kannur Squad have decided to release its trailer on the special occasion. The film, which marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj, is a crime-thriller in which Mammootty reportedly plays the role of an ASI.

Rony David Raj, Shabareesh Varma, Azeez Nedumanga, Deepak Parambol, Sajin Cherukayil, and Gibin Gopinath also star in the film, which is said to be based on true events, Muhammed Shafi has penned the story, while he has co-written the screenplay with actor Rony David.

Kannur Squad has cinematography by Muhammed Rahil and music by Sushin Shyam. It is backed by Mammootty's home production banner Mammootty Kampany.
