A new poster of Prithviraj's upcoming Malayalam film Vilayath Buddha was released on Monday, marking the actor's birthday. Directed by Jayan Nambiar, a former associate of the late director Sachy, the upcoming film is produced by Urvashi Theatres.

Vilayath Buddha is the big-screen adaptation of GR Indugopan's novel of the same name. Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan have adapted the book onto the screen, which primarily revolves around two characters — an old named Bhaskaran Master and his protege, a smuggler named Double Mohanan. The conflict is about the two men trying to claim ownership of a sandalwood tree planted by the former. While Prithviraj plays the latter's role, Shammy Thilakan has been cast as Bhaskaran Master.

Earlier in the year, Prithviraj had met with an accident while filming an intense action sequence for the film. The actor has undergone surgery and was on rest for nearly 3 months.

Vilayath Buddha also stars Anu Mohan, Thottappan-fame Priyamvada Krishnan, Kottayam Ramesh, and Asuran-fame Teejay Arunasalam.

The film's technical crew comprises cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, who shot to fame with Kantara, Music composer Jakes Bejoy and editor Sreejith Sarang.
