Asif Ali's Kasargold gets OTT release date; director Mridul hopes to get wider reach

The film is set against the backdrop of gold smuggling

Within a month of its theatre release, Asif Ali's Kasargold is set to stream on Netflix from October 13. Upon its theatre release, the film had largely met with negative response. Director Mridul Nair, who was upset with the version that hit screens, which he claimed was because of the pressure from his corporate production house Yoodle Films, has expressed hope that the film will get wider reach post its digital release.

Kasargold, which marked Mridul's reunion with Asif after B Techis set against the backdrop of gold smuggling. The film also stars Sunny Wayne and Vinayakan. Deepak Parambol and Malavika Sreenath in key roles. While the film has its story by Mridul, he has penned the screenplay and dialogues along with Malayankunju director Sajimon Prabhakar.

Meanwhile, Asif's other upcoming films include Kishkintha KaandamA Ranjith Cinema, Jis Joy's upcoming mass entertainer co-starring Biju Menon, and a film with debutant director Arfaz Ayub. Mridul Nair has also announced his next film already. Titled Masala Dosha Mysore Akka, it is scripted by him and Sajimon Prabhakar.
