We had earlier reported about actor Austin Dan Thomas, noted for his roles in Thallumaala and Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, making his directorial debut under Ashiq Usman Productions. The film will have Jaysurya playing the lead role. It is the actor's third collaboration with the banner after Happy Journey (2014) and Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum (2017).

The upcoming film, which is yet to be titled, marks the scriptwriting debut of editor Nishad Yusuf, who recently won the Kerala State award for his work in Thallumaala. Jimish Khalid will be wielding camera for the film, more details regarding which are yet to be out.

Jayasurya is currently working on the ambitious Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer, directed by Home-fame Rojin Thomas.
Shot using virtual production technology, the supernatural fantasy film is based on the tales of Kadamattathu Kathanar, a Kerala priest who was believed to possess supernatural powers. Along with Jaysurya, the film also stars Anushka Shetty in a prominent role.
