Director Ganesh Raj's sophomore directorial venture Pookkaalam is set to hit the theatres on April 16. The film stars Vijayaraghavan and KPAC Leela as the leads.

Ganesh Raj, who debuted with Aanandam, is marking his second innings after seven years. Pookkaalam has Vijayaraghavan playing a 100-year-old. His remarkable makeover for the character Ittoop has already grabbed a lot of attention. Others in its elaborate cast include Vineeth Sreenivasan, Basil Joseph, Johny Antony, Arun Kurian, Annu Antony, Roshan Mathew, Abu Salim, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Sarath Sabha, and Sarasa Balusserry. Honey Rose, Ranjini Haridas, and late actor Kochu Preman will also appear briefly.

Earlier, while announcing the project, Ganesh shared that if his maiden film Aanandam 'primarily dealt with youngsters', Pookkaalam is an attempt to 'explore a story about the very amongst us'. He has also scripted the film while retaining his Aanandam cinematographer Anend C Chandran and music director Sachin Warrier on the technical front. The film is produced by Vinod Shornur and Thomas Thiruvalla.
