After a wait that lasted for around eight months, the Soubin Shahir-starrer Ela Veezha Poonchira is out on Prime Video. Although it had a dismal run at the box office, the film's OTT release was eagerly awaited by many. The mystery-thriller marks the directorial debut of Joseph and Nayattu writer Shahi Kabir.

The film is set in the secluded region of Ilaveezhapoonchira, where a few cops supervise a police wireless repeater station situated 3000 feet above sea level. Soubin and Sudhi Koppa essay the lead roles in the film, which is scripted by real-life policemen Nidheesh and Shaji Maarad.

Ela Veezha Poonchira hit screens in June 2022 and opened to positive response from the critics. Sans any of the so-called commercial elements, it is a chilling thriller that makes best use of its peculiar geography. As claimed by the makers, it is the first ever Malayalam film to be released in Dolby Vision 4K HDR.
