Vineeth Sreenivasan will be next directing Varshangalkku Shesham, a multi-starrer led by Pranav Mohanlal, Nivin Pauly, and Dhyan Sreenivasan. Ever since the film's announcement, there have been speculations about it being inspired by the real story of actors Mohanlal, Sreenivasan and Mammootty, and their struggles during their early days in cinema. It was speculated that Pranav's character in the film is based on Mohanlal, while Dhyan's and Nivin's characters were said to be based on Sreenivasan and Mammootty. However, Vineeth has now dismissed them as mere rumours and clarified that it's a story of a bunch of friends. The actor-director, who has lately been subject to trolling for his 'Chennai sentiment', also confirmed that the upcoming film will not be shot in the city, but will have some Chennai references.

The ensemble cast of Varshangalkku Shesham also includes Kalyani Priyadarshan, Neeta Pillai, Aju Varghese, Basil Joseph, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Neeraj Madhav, Nikhil Nair, Arjun Lal and Shaan Rahman. Merryland Cinemas' Visakh Subramaniam, who produced Vineeth's Hridayam, is backing this upcoming film as well.

Vineeth is currently awaiting the release of Kurukkan, in which he plays the lead role of a cop. Directed by Jayalal Divakaran, the film is slated for release on July 27.
