It is widely reported that the teaser of Mammootty's upcoming film Kannur Squad will be attached with Dulquer Salmaan's King of Kotha, which is set for release during the Onam season in August.

Kannur Squad is an investigative thriller, directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Roby Varghese Raj. The film, said to be based on true events, has its story by Muhammed Shafi. He has also written the screenplay along with actor Rony David Raj.

Mammootty plays a cop's role in the film, which also stars Rony, Shabareesh Varma, Azeez Nedumangad, Deepak Parambol, Sajin Cherukayil, and Gibin Gopinath. The technical crew includes cinematographer Muhammed Rahil, composer Sushin Shyam, and editor Praveen Prabhakar. It is backed by Mammootty's home production banner Mammootty Kampany.
