The upcoming Malayalam film, Valatty, which features 11 dogs and a rooster in prominent roles, was slated to hit the theatres on July 14. On Saturday, the makers announced that the film's release has been postponed to July 21.

Written and directed by debutant filmmaker Devan, Valatty is regarded as an experimental film that tells the story of domestic animals.

Valatty is bankrolled by Vijay Babu's production house Friday Film House. The filmmaker and his team have been working on the project for over three years. It included adopting the dogs as puppies and rearing and training them. Notable Malayalam actors, including Aju Varghese, Roshan Mathews, Indrans and Sunny Wayne, among others, have lent their voices to the animal cast.

Valatty has Vishnu Panicker as the cinematographer and Ayoob Khan as the editor. Music is composed by Varun Sunil. Apart from Malayalam, the film is also planned to be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
