It has been exactly a year since the release of Upacharapoorvam Gunda Jayan, a comedy-drama starring Saiju Kurup, Siju Wilson and a host of other popular actors. Released by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films, the film had a decent run at the box office and garnered a better response after it started streaming on Prime Video. Following the positive reception, writer-director Arun Vaiga also announced a sequel to it.

On the first anniversary of the release of Upacharapoorvam Gunda Jayan, the director has hinted that the second part will be a travel-based film. While the first part was set in the backdrop of a wedding, the sequel will be centred around the events that occur during a family trip.

Upacharapoorvvam Gunda Jayan starred Shabareesh Varma, Johny Antony, Sabumon Abdusamad, Sudheer Karamana, Jaffer Idukki, Biju Sopanam, Sagar Surya, Vrindha Menon and Parvathy in supporting roles. It is not yet sure if the same set of actors will be retained for the sequel.
