Finally, after a long delay, Gold, the much-anticipated Malayalam film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and directed by Alphonse Puthren, hit the big screens on Thursday.

Despite zero promotions, the film attracted audiences' enthusiasm sheerly for Alphonse's style of filmmaking and his collaboration with Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Just a night before the release, Alphonse Puthren took to his Facebook handle to tell a bit about the film to the audiences and requested to send in feedback. In the post, he wrote, "Like Neram and Premam, Gold is also imperfect. So mostly you will like it. Gold is releasing tomorrow. After watching the film, even if you like it or not, feel free to let me know your feedback. The story will start in the first scene itself. Now, I am not spoiling the rest. Sorry for the delay from my side, friends. Rest, you watch and let me know."

Gold marks Alphonse's return to direction after seven long years. Besides scripting and directing, he has also handled the film's editing, stunts, VFX, and animation.

Produced by Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen's Magic Frame, the film stars Nayanthara as the female lead. Gold also features Roshan Mathew, Ajmal Ameer, Lalu Alex, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vinay Forrt, Shine Tom Chacko, Prem Kumar, Baburaj, Mallika Sukumaran, Shammi Thilakan, Jagadish, Deepti Sathi, and Shanti Krishna among others. Earlier, the makers had hinted that many other celebrities will make cameo appearances in the film.
