After a gap of seven long years, Premam director Alphonse Puthren is making his comeback with Gold starring Prithviraj and Nayanthara as the leads. The film, which is getting ready to hit screens, will be releasing in Tamil as well. The sensational success of Alphonse's Premam in Tamil Nadu has probably inspired the makers to release Gold in Tamil.

Subbiah Shanmugham's SSI Production has acquired the film's distribution rights in Tamil Nadu. They will be presenting the Tamil and Malayalam versions. The film, produced jointly by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames, is confirmed to hit screens for Onam, but the makers are yet to announce an exact date.

Alphonse is donning multiple hats for the film. Apart from directing and scripting, he is handling its edits, stunts, VFX, animation, and colour grading as well. There's a lot of curiosity around Gold as the makers are yet to reveal any details about the film including its genre.

Gold has a huge supporting cast, which includes Shammy Thilakan, Ajmal Ameer, Lalu Alex, Mallika Sukumaran, Shabareesh Varma, Jagadheesh, Sudheesh, Saiju Kurup, Krishna Shankar, Abu Salim, Baburaj, Chemban Vinod, Jaffer Idukki, Prem Kumar, Shanthi Krishna, Roshan Mathew, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna, Deepti Sati, Althaf Salim and Sabumon. Many other popular actors are also said to be making guest appearances in the film.

Gold has cinematography by Anend C Chandran (Premam) and Viswajith Odukkathil (Hridayam). Premam composer Rajesh Murugesan is scoring music for this film as well.
