Directed by debutant Vishnu Mohan, the film is a social drama inspired by actual events.  It tells the story of Jayakrishnan, a humble garage owner, who gets into a big land deal, which lands him in a difficult situation.  Along with Unni Mukundan, the film also stars Saiju Kurup, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Anju Kurian, Nisha Sarang, Major Ravi, Kundara Johny, and Kalabhavan Shajohn in crucial roles.

Upon its theatrical release in January, Meppadiyan opened to decent reviews from the critics. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
