Indian cinema has seen stories about brave dogs, horses, and elephants, but a Kannada film is now turning a common crow into an unexpected movie hero. The upcoming mystical crime thriller, titled Ravenn, features a crow as the main character that tracks down criminals and delivers justice.
The film received support from Action Prince Dhruva Sarja, who launched its official trailer at a grand event. The trailer was released during Pitru Paksha, the traditional period when families feed crows in memory of their ancestors, making the launch very timely. Guests including DS Max Dayanand, former KFCC president BM Harish, and Rashmi also joined to release the title song. Dhruva Sarja praised the team for picking a unique subject and wished the film great success.
Directed by Veda and produced by Vishwanath GP under Vishwa Productions, the film aims to change how people look at crows. Usually, many consider the bird bad luck, wash their clothes if a crow touches them, or associate it only with death. But director Veda pointed out that crows have great qualities that humans can learn from: a crow never eats alone, and whenever it finds food, it calls its entire group to share it.
The official trailer suggests that this is not a cartoon or a sweet bird tale, but an intense crime mystery mixed with the mythological belief that the crow is the vehicle of Lord Shani, the God of karma. As police officers investigate strange murders, the crow silently watches from car roofs, street corners, and crime scenes, acting as a force of karma when human laws fail.
The human actors happily agreed to let the bird take center stage. Lead actor Dileep Pai said that the crow is the real hero of the film, while he and co-star Dev Devaiah are only supporting players. The cast also features Swapna Shettigar, Suchendra Prasad, Leela Mohan, Dinesh Mangalore, and producer Vishwanath himself.
With lots of computer graphics (CGI), camera work by Rakesh C Tilak, and music by MAD D, Ravenn is completely ready, and all set to hit the theatres this November in Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu, with plans for a release in China and Korea as well.
