A filmmaker, television stars, a popular reality-show face and four commoners selected through Bigg Boss: Agnipariksha. Bigg Boss Kannada 13 has brought together a varied group of contestants, with Kichcha Sudeep returning as host.
For Jagga Mummy, Bigg Boss Kannada 13 is another unexpected turn in a life that has changed rapidly in recent years. Jagadish MB, who became popular as Jagga Mummy in Love Mocktail 3, entered the house as the first contestant. Originally from Mandya, Jagadish had worked as a cook at Darling Krishna’s sister’s house before finding his way into films. He has entered the house with a clear goal: repay his debt, win the trophy and get more opportunities in cinema.
The second contestant, Soundarya Shetty, brings reality-show experience to the house. The Mangaluru-based model and social media personality, popularly known as Sandy, was previously seen on Splitsvilla.
Avinash Shatamarshan, the third contestant, comes from theatre and cinema. A trained stage performer with experience in films including Kannadakkagi Ondannu Otti, he entered the house making it clear that he does not want sympathy. His theatre background could make him one of the more interesting voices in the house.
Prathama Prasad, daughter of veteran actress Vinaya Prasad, is another familiar name from the acting circuit. Gagan Chinnappa, known for his television work, joins the competition with a ready-made audience.
The sixth contestant is Sangeetha Bhat, while Kavya Gowda, known for her television work including Bhagyalakshmi, is the seventh. The entry of two familiar television faces adds another layer to the house dynamics.
Veteran filmmaker Om Prakash Rao brings years of experience from Kannada cinema. Asiya Firdose, who has worked in television, is another contestant with an interesting story of persistence.
Television actor Vaishnavi Kaundinya is followed by actor Tandav Ram and actor Yashas Krishna, known for his role in Pavitra Bandhana.
The remaining four contestants come through Bigg Boss Agnipariksha, the selection process created for commoners. Likhith Gondi, Kiran Shastri, Dhanush Manjunath and Modern Mahakavi Manju earned their places after competing against a large pool of aspirants. Kiran, for instance, made it through public voting after reaching the top 10 stage.
Modern Mahakavi Manju, the final entry, is perhaps the most unusual of the four. Known for speaking in rhymes and his distinctive style, he was selected by the Agnipariksha jury after the other three commoners had entered through public voting.
With personalities ranging from Jagga Mummy’s humour and Soundarya’s confidence to the experience of Sangeetha Bhat, Prathama Prasad, Om Prakash Rao and the fresh energy of the Agnipariksha contestants, Bigg Boss Kannada 13 has enough contrasting personalities to keep the house busy. The real test, however, begins when these contestants have to live together, compete against each other and reveal what lies beyond their public image.
