The film is bankrolled by Gokak-based producer Haripriya Ravikopp under the Shark Cinemas banner and carries the tagline ‘Bhoolokada Adhipathi’ (Lord of the Earth).
Set in the 1990s, Grantha traces the underworld networks stretching across Karnataka and other neighbouring states. Speaking about the narrative, director Sanjeev Gavandi shared, "This film is the result of three years of work and multiple drafts. The story revolves around a man who decides to record his underworld journey into a book—a grantha—leaving behind a real account of that world for the next generation. While the plot is fictional, it draws from authentic incidents." Gavandi added that shooting will take place across Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Mumbai, and parts of North Karnataka.
Yuva, who previously played the lead in Bhai, stars as the protagonist. Explaining the essence of his character, Yuva noted, "A weapon is remembered only until someone dies, but the written word and the book (grantha) endure forever. That thought forms the backbone of this character and his relationship with the underworld."
Senior actor Abhijith will be seen in a negative shade, while the ensemble cast also includes Cockroach Sudhi, Ravi Kale, and Sayaji Shinde in pivotal roles.
Grantha will have music scored by Anjan Poojari, cinematography by Veeresh NTA, and editing by Satish Chandrayya. Stunts are choreographed by Dr Thriller Manju, with dance sequences handled by V Nagesh, Bhushan, and V Murali.
