Kannada film Premada Oorali beats Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam 3 on BookMyShow

Made on a modest budget of around ₹3 crore, the film opened on September 25 with barely 60 shows, and went on to perform well

National Award-winning director Manoj Kumar’s Premada Oorali, produced by Vanilla Entertainment, has pulled off a massive run at the ticket counters. On October 12, this family drama became the number one ticket-selling movie across India on BookMyShow. In just 24 hours, it sold an eye-popping 1.49 lakh tickets, beating out major films like Ajay Devgn's Hindi thriller Drishyam 3 (1.14 lakh tickets) and Rajinikanth's Jailer 2.

Made on a modest budget of around ₹3 crore, the film opened on September 25 with barely 60 shows. The team went straight to the grassroots, handing out pamphlets on local trains and sticking posters behind autorickshaws. Once audiences walked into theatres, pure word-of-mouth took over. Within two weeks, theatres had to scramble to add more shows. The count jumped to over 1,600 screenings, and on BookMyShow, the film was selling more than 15,000 tickets every single hour. It has already made over ₹56 crore, earning more than 20 times what it cost to make. Most remarkably, the crowds are not showing up just on weekends—theatres are seeing packed houses right through Monday and Tuesday.

The film's success has won praise from top Kannada stars like Shivarajkumar, Rishab Shetty, and Ramesh Aravind. Actor Vasishta N Simha and his wife Hariprriya watched the film and shared glowing words of appreciation. Rashmika Mandanna posted her praise on Instagram and even called actor Thapaswini Poonacha to talk about her performance.
