Actor Abhijith plays the titular role in the upcoming Kannada film Shri Annadaneeshwara Mahatme, based on the life of revered seer Dr Shri Annadaneeshwara Mahaswamiji of Mundargi. The film's trailer was unveiled recently by Itagi Sri, alongside the release of the track 'Jnana Meruvagi' by Antahpura Sri.

Abhijith, known for his family drama and action roles, takes on a devotional subject this time around. Speaking about embodying the seer, fondly called the Pustakada Jagadguru, the actor said, "I consider this opportunity the fruit of my past deeds. It felt like the Guru's grace guided me through every scene. When making a film of this nature, capturing the nativity and rooted essence is crucial. Director Gowri extracted the right performance from me." He also acknowledged the visual tone set by cinematographers Mysuru Siddaraju and Shivasharana V Sugnalli, along with V Manohar's music.

The film marks the directorial debut of actor Gowri L Ramegowda. Detailing the scale of the project, Gowri stated that the team filmed for 60 days across Mundargi, Koppal, Shivayoga Mandira, Srirangapatna, and Bengaluru. The production features over 100 actual pontiffs on screen alongside thousands of students from the Siddaganga and Annadaneeshwara mutts.

Produced by Mamatha NS, the film has a screenplay, dialogues, and lyrics written by Sanjay Kumar Bevinal, with editing by NM Vishwa. The supporting cast includes Dr Mahadeva Devaru of the Kukanoor branch mutt, Shivakumar Aaradhya, Ratnamala Sundar, and Dingri Nagaraj.
