Peter locks release date

Peter will release first in Kannada, followed by dubbed versions in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam

A Sharadhaa

Sukesh Shetty’s Peter, starring Rajesh Dhruva, is set for a theatrical release on April 10, entering a crowded window alongside Telugu and Hindi titles. According to the makers, the Kannada film relies on the strength of its technical craft and a narrative rooted in the Kodagu region. Set around Bhagamandala, Peter emphasises atmosphere, with cinematography designed to capture the terrain of Madikeri, its dense greenery, rain-laden skies, and shifting natural light. The visual design treats the landscape as a narrative device, shaping tone and progression rather than functioning as a mere backdrop.

A defining technical feature of the film is its soundscape, built around the traditional chende drum. The percussive element is integrated into the storytelling, influencing staging and rhythm. Key portions, including a jugalbandi segment and the climax, are structured around this sound-led approach.

Directed by Sukesh Shetty, whose earlier work includes Doordarshana, the film draws from a local story and reflects detailed research in its production design and setting. Music is composed by Ritwik Muraleedhar, with Peter marking the first Kannada film to have its audio rights acquired by Think Music.

The ensemble cast includes Raviksha Shetty, Prathima Nayak, Ram Nadagoud, Varun Patel, Raghu Pandeshwar, Radhakrishna Kumble, Deena Poojari, Siddu, Bharath, Manu Kasargod, Rakshit Doddera. Produced by Ravi Hiremath and Rakesh Hegde under Vruddhi Studios, the film will release first in Kannada, followed by dubbed versions in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
