Action choreographer-turned-filmmaker Ravi Varma is gearing up for the release of Blind Babu, his debut directorial in Hindi. The film, which stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is presented by Zee Studios and produced by Aarambh Entertainments. Blind Babu is currently in post-production, and the makers are targeting an August release. What makes the project particularly special for Ravi Varma is its strong Karnataka connection, since much of the crew is drawn from the Kannada film industry, and a major portion of the film was shot in and around Mysuru.

Known for choreographing action sequences for some of Bollywood's biggest stars, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, Ravi Varma has steadily expanded his creative footprint. The stunt choreographer earlier made his directorial debut with Rustum, starring Shivarajkumar. His maiden production venture, Rakkasapuradhol, starring Raj B Shetty, earned critical acclaim, and Blind Babu now marks another significant milestone in his filmmaking journey.

Described as a suspense thriller with dark humour, Blind Babu revolves around a bomb-related crisis, and the narrative relies on tension, character dynamics, and unexpected twists. Alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film also stars Pavan Malhotra in a key role.

Principal photography was completed in a compact 28-day schedule, with an additional eight days of filming in Mumbai.

The story was conceived by Ravi Varma, who has collaborated with Dayanand TK and Sujay Shastry on the screenplay. Nisheeth Chandra serves as creative producer. Cinematography is by Shreesha Kuduvalli, while the young composer duo Rameez-Sohail have scored the music. The background score is composed by Sachin Basrur.

Known for designing action sequences across industries, Ravi Varma considers Blind Babu one of his most ambitious projects yet. An official release date is expected to be announced soon.
