For many television viewers, Ritu Singh is still the bright young face from Seetha Rama. But with Nanna Magale Super Star, the child actor is preparing to introduce audiences to a different side of herself, one rooted in emotion, family, and a story that feels close to home.
The teaser and songs of the film were unveiled recently, bringing early attention to a project that is about relationships, expectations, and the pressures children often carry.
Rather than presenting this dilemma in a heavy-handed manner, the film appears to approach it through the lens of family drama and emotional storytelling.
While Ritu Singh plays the central role, the film also marks an interesting turn for actor Cheluvaraj, who has largely been associated with antagonist roles. In Nanna Magale Super Star, he steps into a lead role that he describes as a welcome departure from the image audiences know him for.
“People have mostly seen me as a villain,” Cheluvaraj says. “This film gave me the opportunity to do something different.”
His association with the project also carries a personal memory. Looking back nearly 15 years, the actor recalls working on the Mahabharata television serial, where producer Kumar had then been his makeup artist, making this collaboration feel unexpectedly full circle.
Actor Sambhramashree, who plays Ritu Singh’s mother in the film, believes the story holds a mirror to many households and speaks to families across generations.
The film’s music, composed by Kevin with lyrics by senior poet and lyricist BR Lakshman Rao, was also unveiled alongside the teaser at the launch event attended by members of the Kannada film fraternity, including Dr Jayamala.
With filming already wrapped and release plans for next month. For Ritu Singh, whose journey began on television with Seetha Rama, the film could become an important milestone for this child artiste.
