Even as the controversy surrounding Karavali continues to dominate conversations, Prajwal Devaraj has chosen to end his public silence with a detailed Instagram statement. While addressing the issues that led to his absence from the film's promotions, the actor also made an emotional appeal to fans: watch Karavali in theatres and support the team behind it.
Prajwal revealed that he learnt during the trailer launch that his character had been dubbed by another artiste without his prior knowledge or consent. At the same time, he said his agreed remuneration had not been fully paid, which is why he stayed away from the trailer launch.
Responding to claims that the issue stemmed from his physical transformation or six-pack look, the actor dismissed the speculation. He clarified that his concerns were solely about the dubbing decision and the pending payment. According to Prajwal, he had conveyed from the beginning that he was ready to complete dubbing and participate in promotions as soon as his dues were cleared.
He further stated that while the pending remuneration was eventually settled, excluding GST, he was later informed through his manager that his dubbing services and promotional participation were no longer required. Prajwal also expressed disappointment over public comments suggesting his voice did not suit the character, pointing out that he was never given the opportunity to dub for the role himself.
Calling this his final public statement on the issue, the actor said he would not engage in any further debate. Stressing that Kannada cinema has always been his first priority, he said personal differences should never overshadow the hard work of an entire film unit.
Ending his note on a positive note, Prajwal wished the Karavali team well and urged audiences to visit theatres on July 24. He also thanked his fans, media and colleagues for standing by him, saying their love and trust remain his greatest strength.
