The upcoming Kannada period drama, The 1979 Untold Story, which is produced under the Manam Movie Makers banner, is directed by Pushpa Raj. Beeramanahalli M Srinivas is also producin the project, which is projected as a serious, story-centric film inspired by real incidents from the late 1970s.

Set against events that took place in Bengal in 1979, the film presents a fictional narrative shaped by political tension and social unrest. While the story is based in Bengal, the entire film has been shot in Kolar, where the makers have recreated the required environment through production design and location choices. The narrative is said to revolve around themes of power, governance, self-respect, suffering, and violence, placing ordinary individuals within the framework of larger political and administrative systems.

The teaser, released recently, establishes the tone of the story through restrained visuals and a strong background score, suggesting a narrative that relies on atmosphere and emotional weight rather than dramatic excess. The teaser also indicates that the film will focus on the human cost of political and social conflict.

According to the team, the trailer and songs will be released in the coming days. While the official release date has not yet been announced, the film is expected to reach theatres in February.

With The 1979 Untold Story, the makers aim to deliver a socially grounded narrative through a focused and disciplined cinematic style. The cast features emerging actors Ajju, Sujith, Pranvi Gowda, and Amrutha Gowda in lead roles. On the technical front, cinematography is handled by Chalaki Charan, while music is composed by Jashwanth Vasudeleti.
