The team of the upcoming rural drama Gramayana unveiled their latest song, 'Benki', in the presence of Shivarajkumar. Directed by Devanuru Chandru and produced by Lahari Films, the film stars Vinay Rajkumar and Megha Shetty in the lead.
After releasing the song, Shivarajkumar praised the track and wished the team success. Geetha Shivarajkumar was also present at the event. Composed by Poornachandra Tejaswi, Benki is sung by Kapil Kapilan and Aira Udupi. The song is a remix of the popular track 'Ninnane Naanu Benkiyallu Thampu Kandenu' from the Shivarajkumar-starrer Manamecchida Hudugi, originally composed by Upendra Kumar with lyrics by Chi. Udayashankar and sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam and S Janaki. Interestingly, both the original and the remix have been released under the Lahari banner.
Producer Lahari Velu, speaking in the presence of Lahari head Manohar Naidu, said Gramayana is the production house’s ninth film. He described it as a story rich in rural flavour and praised the performances of Vinay Rajkumar, Megha Shetty, and the ensemble cast. The makers also confirmed that the film, which had earlier faced delays, is now set for a grand theatrical release in February.
Director Devanuru Chandru said audiences will see a new side of Vinay Rajkumar in this “pure rural entertainer.” He also lauded cinematographer Santosh Rai Pathaje for completing the shoot ahead of schedule and credited music director Poornachandra Tejaswi for giving the film melodious tracks, including 'Benki'.
The film features a strong supporting cast including Achyuth Kumar, Gopalakrishna Deshpande, Arun Sagar, Bala Rajwadi, Aparna, and Seetha Kote, with Loose Mada Yogi in a special role.
Vinay Rajkumar said his character, named Sixth Sense, is deeply rooted in the rural setting and thanked Shivarajkumar and Geetha Shivarajkumar for launching the song. Megha Shetty, who plays Kusuma, described her role as a fearless, strong-willed village girl.
