Sharath Prakash, winner of the reality show Pyate Mandi Kadige Bandru Season 2, is set to headline the upcoming film Star. The actor has taken on a dual responsibility in the project by playing the lead and producing the film under the Lion Creations banner. The movie carries the tagline “Bhoomige Hatra” (Closer to the Earth).
Directed by Vijay Surya, Star is inspired by real-life incidents from the slums of Bengaluru. The film revolves around gang conflicts, violence, and the circumstances that push individuals toward crime. Along with action elements, the story also focuses on emotional themes such as the father-daughter relationship, maternal sentiment, and love. The trailer of the film was recently released and gained attention after it was launched by a security guard, highlighting the film’s connection with ordinary people.
Speaking about his journey, Sharath said his father, Prakash, worked as a fighter in films during the era of legendary actor Dr Rajkumar. After winning the reality show, Sharath received several opportunities and has acted in more than 25 films in supporting roles. However, he was looking for a strong lead role and said he was impressed by the one-line story narrated by the director. He expressed confidence that the film would offer a mix of action and emotional content for audiences.
The film stars Rajata Raksha as the female lead, with several theatre artists playing key roles. The music for the film’s three songs is composed by Vikas Vasishta. APSK has handled the cinematography, while Vinu Manasu has composed the background score. Editing is done by Shashidhar P.
Director Vijay Surya stated that the film aims to present a realistic portrayal of how personal and professional challenges can lead to criminal activities. Shot in real locations across Bengaluru’s slums, Star will bring together an intense storytelling and unexpected twists.
