Actor-filmmaker Duniya Vijay thanked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah after his film Landlord directed by jadeshaa K Hampi received tax exemption. The film addresses social inequality and caste-based oppression. It had earlier gained support from leaders of the Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS), who met with the Chief Minister and submitted a formal request.

Duniya Vijay welcomed the decision and said support from the government and social organizations has boosted the team’s determination. “We are grateful to the Chief Minister and all the organization leaders who stood by us,” he mentioned.

In a social media post, Vijay expressed thanks to senior DSS leaders for appealing to the government on behalf of the film. He also recognized the support from leaders like Mavalli Shankar, Subbu Holeyar, Gollahalli Shivaprasad, Hulikunte Murthy, Chandru Tarahunase, Ravikumar Ichalamara, Harish Bhairappa, Murali Katti, and Vijaykumar Sonare.

The actor noted that the Chief Minister’s assurance of tax exemption has given the team new motivation to make more meaningful films about the struggles and rights of marginalized communities. Vijay also thanked the Chief Minister’s media secretary Prabhakar and close aide Dr. Nelkunte Venkateshiah for assisting with the process.

He expressed gratitude to organizations, leaders, and activists who supported the film since its release, ending his message with “Jai Bhim.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he had directed officials to grant tax exemption to Landlord, recognizing its emphasis on social inequality and caste-based exploitation. He highlighted that cinema is a strong medium that can shape public opinion and encourage social change. Supporting films with significant social concerns is a moral duty of the government, and he hopes Landlord will inspire more films that showcase social realities.
