Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups has received the go-ahead for a temporary ticket price hike in Telangana, just a day ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on August 26.
The Telangana government has permitted theatres to increase ticket prices for a 10-day period, from August 26 to September 4. During this period, exhibitors can operate up to five shows a day with the revised rates.
The order issued by the state Home Department allows single-screen theatres to charge an additional ₹50 per ticket, inclusive of GST. Multiplexes and special screens, meanwhile, can charge ₹100 more.
The permission comes with a condition for the film’s producers, KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. They have been directed to contribute ₹1 crore to the Telugu Film Industry Employees Welfare Committee fund, which supports workers and technicians in the film industry.
The government has also made it mandatory for theatres to screen approved public service advertisements on anti-narcotics and cybercrime awareness before screenings and during intervals.
The ticket hike comes as advance bookings for Toxic gather pace in Hyderabad and across Telangana. The film has been drawing attention in the Telugu market, where Yash has built a strong following following the success of the KGF franchise.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, with the film mounted as a bilingual in Kannada and English, it is set for a release across Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.
The film is backed by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations and is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on August 26.
