Dr Vishnuvardhan’s 75th birth anniversary year will be commemorated with a grand celebration in Bengaluru on September 27. Titled Dr Vishnuvardhan Amrutha Mahotsava, the event will bring together his fans and members of the Kannada film industry to remember the actor and his contribution to cinema.

The celebration will be held at Nandi Link Ground in Nayandahalli and is expected to draw more than 25,000 fans of late Vishnuvardhan from across Karnataka. Several actors, directors, producers and technicians who worked with Vishnuvardhan are expected to attend, along with personalities from the fields of literature and music.

According to Veerakaputra Srinivas, the idea behind the event is not just to commemorate Vishnuvardhan’s birth anniversary, but also to revisit his work and introduce his contribution to a younger generation.

“It is rare for the entire film industry to come together to celebrate Dr Vishnuvardhan’s personality and achievements. This celebration is an attempt to bring his contribution back into focus and take his legacy to the next generation,” he said.

The day-long event will feature programmes centred on Vishnuvardhan’s life and career. The organisers are also working towards bringing several of the filmmakers, actors, producers and technicians who worked with him together on a single platform.

Director Dr Rajendra Singh Babu, who shared a long association with Vishnuvardhan, said such gatherings are important to keep the actor’s memory alive. The event is also expected to revisit some of the collaborations and milestones from Vishnuvardhan’s career.

Actor and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce vice-president Sundar Raj said efforts would be made to involve the wider Kannada film industry in the celebrations.

The official logo of Dr Vishnuvardhan Amrutha Mahotsava has also been unveiled, setting the stage for what the organisers hope will be a large gathering in memory of the late actor.
