While much of Yash's speech was devoted to the people who brought Toxic to life, from director Geetu Mohandas and producer Venkat K Narayana to his co-stars and technicians, his most personal words were reserved for his wife, Radhika Pandit.
Speaking about the years spent making Toxic, Yash thanked Radhika for giving him the freedom to devote himself completely to the film, acknowledging the quiet role she played through one of the most demanding phases of his career."I want to thank my wife," he said, drawing applause from the audience before adding with a smile, "It isn't easy to be my friend. It isn't easy to be associated with me. I am a very difficult person", says Yash as he spoke about what Toxic had asked of him. He said the film had taken more out of him than any of his recent projects. Years of work, multiple looks, a long shooting schedule and the need to stay focused on the film meant that much of his time and attention belonged to Toxic.
During that period, he said, Radhika quietly handled everything that came with his absence. Without drawing attention to herself, she gave him the space to focus on the film while managing responsibilities at home.
Yash chose not to dwell on sacrifice. Instead, he thanked her for standing by him through a demanding phase of his career.
"I have only one thing in my mind," he said. "Whatever we do in life, we should be honest."
