The much-awaited Tovino Thomas-starrer Palli Chattambi has undergone a last-minute change in its release schedule. The film, which was initially set to hit screens on April 10, has now been postponed to April 15 due to the Kerala elections.
Adding a strong Kannada connection, the Malayalam film is being distributed in Karnataka by Hombale Films, known for backing major hits like KGF and Kantara. The film will also release in Kannada, further strengthening its reach in the state.
Tovino Thomas recently visited Bengaluru for promotions along with lead actress Kayadu Lohar. The film has several links to Karnataka—Kayadu began her acting journey in Kannada with Mugilpete, and Palli Chattambi is said to feature elements of Yakshagana, along with Kannada dialogues even in its Malayalam version.
Speaking about his connection with Karnataka, Tovino shared that his films have always received appreciation from Kannada audiences. He recalled visiting Bengaluru and Mysuru since childhood and even staying in Bengaluru for a month during the shoot of Dear Friend, where he enjoyed the local culture and cuisine. He expressed hope that audiences would extend the same support to Palli Chattambi, highlighting the cultural similarities among South Indian languages.
Kayadu Lohar called the film special, saying she always wanted to portray a character like Rebecca and has put in her best effort. She also urged audiences to support the film as they did her debut project.
Directed by Dijo Jose Antony of Jana Gana Mana fame, the film is set in the 1950s and revolves around a village story from that era.
