The trailer of Elra Kaaleliyatte Kaala, starring Chandan Shetty and directed by Sujay Shastry, offers a glimpse into a rustic, 1990s-set narrative that leans on humour, emotion, and everyday life. Produced by Govindaraju under Gokul Entertainers, the film is gearing up for its theatrical release on April 17, with the trailer unveiled via Anand Audio.
The Elra Kaaleliyatte Kaala trailer stands out for its retro texture and grounded storytelling, capturing a close-knit community and the small yet defining moments that shape its people. With a mix of light-hearted exchanges and emotional undercurrents, the film appears to revolve around relationships, personal choices, and the passage of time, all set against a distinctly local backdrop. The dialogues carry a natural, colloquial flavour, adding to its rooted appeal.
Speaking about the film, Sujay Shastry said that he identified Chandan Shetty as the right fit for the lead after watching him on a reality show. The story, written by Rajaguru Hoskote, struck a chord early on, leading to the collaboration. The director added that Chandan underwent preparation for the role and put in considerable effort, while Archana Kottige complements him with a strong performance. The music, composed by Praveen and Pradeep, adds to the film’s mood.
Calling the story the main reason for taking up the project, Chandan Shetty described it as his first film as a lead and a learning experience, especially working with theatre-rooted talents like Sujay Shastry and Rajaguru Hoskote. He added that the film is designed as a family watch and urged audiences to experience it in theatres.
Producer Govindaraju shared that he was keen to collaborate with Sujay Shastry after watching Gubbi Mele Brahmastra, and moved ahead once the story appealed to him. The film will be distributed by KVN Productions.
Described as a story that reflects the value of time, the film also features Manju Pavagada, Mahantesh, and Ananth Padmanabha in key roles, rounding off a cast that supports its nostalgic, slice-of-life narrative.
