Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1 has joined an elite list of non-Malayalam films to gross in excess of 50 crore from theatres in Kerala alone. Sources close to the project tell CE that the Kantara prequel has minted 52 crore from the Kerala box office. Reportedly, the only other films outside of the Malayalam film industry to breach the landmark are Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, KGF: Chapter 2, Leo, and Jailer.

Recently, the film grossed over 650 crore at the global box office. As per the industry tracker Sacnilk's data, its India net collection has exceeded 500 crore as well.

According to the industry tracker, KGF: Chapter 2 grossed around 65 crore in the Kerala market and about 1000 crore from theatres nationwide. If Rishab Shetty's film maintains this momentum, it might just become the highest-grossing non-Malayalam film in Kerala.

The film's latest achievement is still quite remarkable, especially given the smaller number of theatres for it in the state compared to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and the competition from the latest industry hit, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. The wider release and the access to a greater number of theatres also explains why the Hindi version of the film has reportedly grossed more than the Kannada version in India.
