Todor Lazarov has worked on big budget Hollywood blockbusters like Troy (2004), The Expandables 2 (2012), and Hercules (2014). But he insists that the Indian films he has been part has always been larger than life. Before working on Kantara: Chapter 1, Lazarov has been a part of films like RRR and Manikarnika.

In an exclusive conversation with CE, the stunt director said "If you compare Hollywood and Indian films, I always say this—here, people are passionate. In the West, for many, it becomes just another credit on the resume. That spark, that joy in working, is missing. Here in India, it feels alive. It feels like home."

The climax of Kantara: Chapter 1, has been noted for its innovative stunt sequences that elevate the story. Speaking about the film, Lazarov said, "The moment I saw Rishab Shetty, there was pure heart and soul. He explained his vision for the climax, not just as a director but also as the actor living the character. It was so powerful that I immediately knew I had to do it. I was already committed to two projects, but I cancelled them without hesitation. I thought I had to do it for Rishab. It felt like meeting family."

Kantara: Chapter 1 is set in the Tulunadu region of Karnataka, and stars Rishab Shetty in the lead as Berme, and Rukmini Vasanth as Kanakavathi. The film has grossed Rs 655 crores in its worldwide collection.
