Anup Revanna, known for films like Lakshmana, Kabzaa, and Hide and Seek, has stepped into the lead role in the upcoming political drama Kanakaraj. The film recently kicked off with a muhurat ceremony attended by industry veterans and dignitaries.

Produced by SR Sanath Kumar under the Sukruti Chitralaya banner, Kanakaraj brings together a creative team lead by Dr V Nagendra Prasad, who has penned the story, screenplay, dialogues, and composed the music. Co-directors VM Raju and Neel Kengapura collaborate to bring this political drama to life.

Anup Revanna, son of Karnataka politician HM Revanna, steps confidently into his first major role, portraying a politically active lawyer and an ardent admirer of the Chief Minister. “I play a lawyer who also admires the Chief Minister; it’s been an extraordinary experience, and I hope audiences will connect with Kanakaraj,” says Anup.

The film stars Nimisha as the female lead, and the ceremonial first clapboard was given by Anup’s father, HM Revanna, with politician Ramalinga Reddy and a host of industry stalwarts also present. Expressing his support, Revanna said, “Sanath Kumar is a close friend, and my son Anup is leading this project, the story is strong, and I wish the film every success.”

Sanath Kumar said, “Kanakaraj is our sixth production, and like our previous films, it carries a strong message for the youth. The story unfolds across Karnataka, its neighbouring states, and even international locations.”

Dr V Nagendra Prasad added, “We want to encourage the youth to participate in politics. This story blends personal ambition with civic responsibility.”

Ramesh Koyira handles cinematography, Lakshman Reddy is on editing, and the film will feature four original songs alongside four high-octane action sequences.
