The twelfth season of Bigg Boss Kannada hosted by Sudeep seems to have hit a roadblock just a week after its grand launch. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has issued an official notice to Vels Studios and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the production base where the show is currently being filmed near Bidadi. The notice was issued on Monday, October 6, raising serious environmental concerns.
According to the KSPCB, the studio has been discharging untreated wastewater directly into public drains without proper sewage treatment. This act violates the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act of 1974. As a result, the board has directed the studio to halt its operations until further notice. The Deputy Commissioner of Ramanagara district has been instructed to seize the facility, and BESCOM officials have been asked to disconnect the power supply to the premises immediately.
The Bigg Boss Kannada set, located in the Bidadi industrial area of Ramanagara district, is one of the biggest reality show locations in the state. However, reports suggest that despite previous inspections by local authorities on March 19 and June 11 this year, the studio failed to obtain mandatory clearance from the Pollution Control Board. The officials found that the wastewater generated within the amusement park-style premises was being released untreated, causing environmental pollution.
The issue has drawn significant attention, as the show—broadcast on Colors Kannada—is currently in its second week. Seventeen contestants have entered the house, and the competition has already begun to engage audiences across Karnataka. However, with the notice now in place, questions arise over whether production will continue as planned or face temporary suspension.
Vels Studios and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. is yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations or the next course of action. Meanwhile, fans and industry insiders are closely watching how the situation unfolds. The uncertainty surrounding one of Kannada television’s biggest reality shows has created a buzz in the entertainment circle, leaving viewers wondering whether Bigg Boss Kannada 12 will overcome this early hurdle or face an unexpected pause in its broadcast.
