Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 continues to dominate the box office, showing strong growth over its opening weekend. The period action drama has already minted over Rs 225 crore worldwide in just three days, with domestic earnings of around Rs 195.50 crore gross (Rs 162.85 crore net) and overseas collections surpassing $3 million.

The film has seen a sharp uptick on Saturday, earning approximately Rs 63.50 crore in India—up nearly 25% from Friday—bringing its three-day domestic total to Rs 185.50 crore. Most of the growth came from the Kannada version in Karnataka and the Hindi-dubbed version in North India, with the former registering record-breaking occupancy for Saturday night shows at 94% and the latter showing a nearly 60% jump in the North.

In Karnataka, Kantara: Chapter 1 set the biggest Saturday ever, beating the previous benchmark set by KGF 2. The state’s three-day total stands at Rs 56 crore, just shy of KGF 2’s opening weekend of Rs 58.50 crore, but with a much stronger upward trend. Tamil Nadu and Kerala also contributed with steady growth, while Andhra Pradesh saw a minor dip due to the holiday period winding down.

Overseas, the film has performed well for its scale, bringing in over $3 million in the first three days, taking the worldwide gross past Rs 225 crore. On Saturday, Kantara: Chapter 1 surpassed the lifetime collections of recent hits like Salman Khan’s Sikandar (Rs 176 crore), Ram Charan’s Game Changer (Rs 200 crore), and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi (Rs 210 crore). The film is now on track to cross the Rs 250 crore mark by the end of its extended weekend, with estimates placing it around Rs 255 crore.

A prequel to the 2022 sleeper hit Kantara, which earned over Rs 400 crore worldwide on a modest Rs 15 crore budget, Kantara: Chapter 1 is set a thousand years before the events of the first film. Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, it also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah alongside Shetty in the lead.
