After a user on X, tweeted out a scene from Kantara: Chapter 1, which featured actor Gulshan Devaiah pinching the cheeks of actor Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan replied to the tweet by saying that it is inappropriate.

Initially, the actor replied, "Cute but No please don’t !!! It’s highly inappropriate. Ps. This was unscripted. I improvised this during a rehearsal & Rishab laughed out loud. We kept it in the final take."

But after several users replied that how an improvised moment could have been done with consent, the actor wrote, "Ok I can see how I contradict myself I suppose most people assume “improvisation” to be spontaneous. Not the case always & certainly not in this case. I take the most pride in being a thorough professional to work with & there is always consent involved with all of my co actors regardless of the gender. I did learn it the hard way though, in an incident that happened during the filming of Shaitan."

Shaitan, was directed by Bejoy Nambiar, where Gulshan starred alongside Rajeev Khandelwal, Rajkummar Rao, and Kalki Koechlin.

Meanwhile, Kantara: Chapter 1 has become one of the highest grossing films in Karnataka, and is currently streaming on Prime Video.
