Filmmakers Natesh Hegde and Ganesh Hegde, the creative voices behind acclaimed films like Pedro and Neeli Hakki, are joining forces once again for an evocative cinematic journey titled Kurka. Produced under their banner Fox & Friends, in collaboration with Aghor Motion Pictures, led by philanthropist and businessman Dr Revanna, Kurka promises to be another poignant entry into Kannada’s evolving new-wave cinema.

Helmed by Ganesh Hegde, Kurka is a mystery crime drama that revolves around themes of psychological depth, social complexity, and human fragility. Ganesh Hegde, who bagged the Karnataka State Award for his debut Neeli Hakki (2021), continues his exploration of layered narratives. This time, the filmmaker is bringing a darker, sharper lens to the screen.

The film features Vijay Raghavendra, a National Award winner; veteran actor Avinash; and Anupama Gowda, who won the Karnataka State Award for best female actor in 2019. Jahangir MS, GB Bharath, Sindhu Herur, Nagaraj Hegde, and Shwetha Desai play supporting roles.

Kurka also boasts a talented technical team. The film’s soundscape is crafted by Shreyank Nanjappa, an FTII alumnus whose credits include festival favourites at Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals. Music comes from Charan Raj, while cinematography is handled by Ganesh Hegde himself. Natesh Hegde, also doubling as the film’s editor, brings his nuanced storytelling touch, and TMEfx lends its artistry to the film’s visual effects.

This marks the second outing from Fox & Friends, co-founded by Natesh Hegde, following the critical success of Pedro. There has also been palpable anticipation surrounding the upcoming film Vaghachipani (Tiger's Pond), which premiered at Berlinale recently— a first for Kannada cinema.

With its shoot completed, Kurka is all set for a theatrical release in June.
