Anurag Kashyap makes his Kannada debut with a sports drama

Director Anurag Kashyap, who has made his mark in the Hindi film industry for over two decades, is now turning his attention to South Indian cinema. Known for his distinctive filmmaking style, Anurag has taken acting seriously and now marks his debut in Kannada. He is also stepping into sports drama with 8, directed by Sujay Shastri. Arvind Venkatesh Reddy, the producer of the film under his banner AVR Entertainment, shares how the collaboration came about. “We had a conversation, and I was lucky enough to have him hear the story Sujay narrated. Anurag loved it and immediately connected with the role. It’s an exciting project for him, and I am happy that he is marking his debut with our project." Aravind says.

Ayesha, a supermodel turned actor, makes a cameo in the film, adding further excitement. While the details of Anurag's role and the film’s shooting schedule are still under wraps, the makers are looking to pack his schedule into a span of 27 days. Anurag is also producing the upcoming Kannada film Vaghachipani, directed by Natesh Hegde of Pedro fame.

Anurag has already appeared as a villain in the Tamil film Maharaja and the Malayalam film Rifle Club, besides playing a cameo in Viduthalai Part 2. His upcoming role in the Telugu film Dacoit, where he plays a police officer, adds to his expanding filmography.
