Priyanka Upendra shares a heartfelt tribute to the legendary B Saroja Devi, describing her as more than just a screen icon.

“She was incredibly close to us. Her daughter Indu is like a sister to me, and I always called her ‘Amma.’ Her grace, beauty, and aura made her a true icon — she was a Pan-India star even before the term existed.”

Priyanka fondly recalls their frequent interactions, especially after shifting to Sadashivanagar.

“We’d often meet her when visiting Indu. Every year, Amma’s birthday was a celebration we looked forward to in Malleswaram. Even her daughter’s birthdays were held there — it became a beautiful tradition.”

Speaking about Saroja Devi’s recent health, she adds:

“She hadn’t been well for the past couple of months but seemed to be doing better. But with age, you can never tell. It’s still hard to believe she’s gone.”

“People often said she looked a lot like Vyjayanthimala — so elegant. My mother-in-law adored her — her style and dressing sense — and my aunts were all fans. I remember once, during a celebration at home, everyone wanted a photo with her. She inspired generations, and her legacy will live on. I’ll always be there for Indu.”
