ZEE5 Kannada is gearing up to stream its latest original web series Shodha from August 29. Directed by Sunil Mysuru and produced by KRG Studios, the six-episode psychological crime thriller features Pawan Kumar, Siri Ravikumar, Arun Sagar, and Anusha Ranganath in pivotal roles.
The story follows Rohit (Pawan Kumar), a sharp yet morally ambiguous lawyer, whose world spirals out of control when he shockingly fails to recognise his own wife.
At the Bengaluru press meet, Deepak Sriramulu, Business Head of ZEE5 Kannada, highlighted the platform’s growing focus on language-specific storytelling:
“ZEE5 started as a single OTT platform, but with regional audiences in mind, we launched ZEE5 Kannada. We first tested waters with micro-series on the Bullet app, followed by our original series Ayyana Mane, which received an overwhelming response. That success has now led to Shodha. With collaborations alongside KRG Studios, PRK Productions, and Tarun Sudhir Productions, we’re showcasing the strength of Kannada narratives and giving new talent space to shine.”
Karthik Gowda of KRG Studios added: “After Ayyana Mane, director Pradeep suggested we take up a web series. We wanted fresh writing, and that’s when Suhas Navarathna, who earlier worked on The Family Man 2 & 3, came in. Later, director Sunil Mysuru joined, and gradually the team grew into what you see today. The trailer has already received strong feedback, and we are excited for audiences to experience Shodha on ZEE5 from August 29.”
Actor Pawan Kumar, who leads the series, shared his excitement: “I had pitched web series ideas in Hindi before, but whenever I tried in Kannada, they never materialised. With ZEE5 Kannada stepping in, things changed. When they offered me Shodha, I saw an opportunity to experiment with the role and explore new dimensions. OTT is opening doors for fresh, diverse stories, and I hope ZEE5 grows into a space where more directors and writers thrive.”
Written by Suhas Navarathna, directed by Sunil Mysuru, and backed by KRG Studios, Shodha promises to keep audiences hooked with its gripping blend of suspense and psychological drama.
