The first lyrical video from Soulmates, helmed by cinematographer-turned-director PV Shankar, has officially been released. Titled 'Kilakila', the playful, nature-themed track marks the return of the legendary Hamsalekha, who not only composed the music but also penned the lyrics. The song is brought to life by vocalists Aniruddha Shastry and Ankita Kundu.

Positioned as a nature-conscious romantic drama, Soulmates carries the tagline: Soulmates – Nature Lovers. Targeting a September release, the film features an ensemble cast led by Sreejith Surya (Rang Bi Rang), Prasanna Shetty (Nimma Vasthugalege Neve Javabdhararu), newcomers Yashvika Nishkal and Rajani, alongside Almas, Yash Shetty, Sharath Lohitashwa, Aravind Rao, Aruna Balaraj, Arasu Maharaj, Prashanth Natt, Gautham, Tarak, and Naveen D Padil.

Jointly produced by GR Archana and Shankar under their home banner, the film’s music launch saw Karnataka Film Chamber President Narasimhulu express his support for grassroots filmmaking. He said, “No one should suffer financial losses while making a film. Kannada cinema must grow, and Kannada must thrive.”

Producer Shilpa Srinivas added a socially conscious note: “With the message ‘Plant a tree every year, watch a Kannada film every week,’ we hope Soulmates contributes positively to meaningful cinema.”

For Shankar, the project is personal: “My obsession with cinema began in childhood. The first film I watched was Putnanja—that’s when my admiration for Hamsalekha sir began. Having him on board for my debut is a dream come true. He’s composed five original songs for the film.”

Described as a family entertainer, Soulmates centers on a boy and a girl united by their deep bond with nature. Lead actor Sreejith Surya, who plays Satya, said, “Satya treats both his partner and the planet as soulmates.” Co-star Nishkal Shetty, portraying Bhoomi, called the film “a dream project,” especially for the chance to work with Hamsalekha.
