Upendra’s return to direction with UI, after a nine-year hiatus, has sparked a whirlwind of excitement among his devoted fans. Since the film was first announced and began production, anticipation has been building for his distinct storytelling style.

On Monday, the makers announced the release date for the film. Accordingly, UI is set to hit theaters on December 20. This pan-India venture aims to connect across multiple languages.

Initially, the team considered an end-of-October release, but Upendra’s meticulous attention to detail, particularly regarding visual effects, led them to choose a later date.

The makers seemed to have chosen December 20 as it aligns with a weekend leading into the Christmas holidays. Even the Telugu film Game Changer, which was eyeing a release on the same day, has opted to shift to Sankranti. As of now, UI is the only film coming out on that date.

Upendra not only directs but also stars in UI, while the production is managed by G Manohar Naidu of Lahari Films and KP Sreekanth of Venus Entertainers. The film, which has a musical score by Ajaneesh Loknath, stars Reeshma Nanaiah as the female lead. With Ravi Shankar and Sadhu Kokila set to feature in supporting roles, more details about other actors are still under wraps.

In his recent interactions with the media, Upendra mentioned, "People always say I put ideas in people's heads. But in UI, I will work to remove the thoughts from people's heads." It’ll be interesting to see how he pulls that off, as fans wait to experience the magic Upendra has in store.
