Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, the producer of KGF, confirmed that the Pan-Indian film franchise will have a third installment. Further, the producer also revealed that the third film will commence shooting later this, eyeing a release in 2024.

In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Vijay shared an update regarding KGF-director Prashanth Neel's upcoming Prabhas-starrer Salaar, and spilt the deets about KGF: Chapter 3. "Director Prashant Neel is currently busy with Salaar. Around 30-35% of the shooting is done. The next schedule is slated to begin next week. We hope to complete it by October-November this year. So, we plan to begin the shoot for KGF after October this year. We hope to release the film by 2024," he said.

The producer added that the makers want to create a KGF universe that is similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "Going forward, we are going to create a Marvel kind of universe. We want to bring different characters from different movies and create something like Doctor Strange. The way it happened in Spider-Man or Doctor Strange. So that we can reach a wider audience easily."

Directed by Prashanth Neel, the two KGF films starred Yash as the uber-cool gangster Rocky, who rises from rags to riches. The first film, KGF: Chapter 1, became a blockbuster in 2018.

The second film, KGF: Chapter 2, was released on April 14 to overwhelmingly positive reviews and has grossed over Rs 1170 crores worldwide. The film, which is still continuing its dream run, became the third highest-grossing Indian film, only next to Dangal and Baahubali: The Conclusion.

Apart from Yash, KGF: Chapter 2 also stars Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj, Raveena Tandon, and Malavika Avinash
