Earlier this Friday, Anurag Kashyap posted a long note on Instagram expressing his admiration for the Marathi film Tighee, which hit theatres in the recent past. Sharing a poster for the film as it completes the fourth week of its release, Anurag wrote a glowing review for the movie, praising its story, themes, cast and crew.

Saying that he cannot stop thinking about the film even two days after watching it, Anurag wrote, "A very simple and powerful film about family bonds between a mother and her two daughters , or one can say two sisters and their ailing mother. A film about deeply held resentments mixed with an undeniable love between the three women and a long held secret."

Tighee follows estranged siblings who get back together with their mother who is ailing. However, things become slightly more intense when a long-held family secret becomes known. The film stars Bharti Achrekar, Neha Pendse, Sonalee Kulkarni, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Jaimini Pathak, and Nipun Dharmadhikari.

Speaking further about the movie, Anurag highlighted its exploration of "the women’s complicated relationships with men in their lives and their resilience to the circumstances." According to Anurag, debutant director Jeejivisha Kale "gives us men an insight into her perspective and world , where we flail to inhabit it with dignity and respect. Yet they keep giving and we don’t just take but also take it for granted."

The legendary filmmaker also reserved special praise for the film's lead actors Bharti Achrekar, Sonalee Kulkarni, and Neha Pendse. Referring to Bharti Achrekar, Anurag suggested in his Tighee movie review that the film made the most of her talent, positioning her in a role different from what he is familiar with. "The biggest takeaway was the mother Bharti Achrekar, who I always saw as an actor who was funny, had great comic timing but here , for the first time , she is cast in a role that demands more than that and she stays with you much after the film has ended. If only men had mothers like her , the world would be a better place," the filmmaker wrote.

He congratulated the entire team behind Tighee and made a special mention of Nikhil Mahajan, the film's screenwriter, editor, and producer.
