Mark Rylance joins The Nightingale

The Nightingale stars Dakota and Elle Fanning in the lead, collaborating for the first time in their careers

Actor Mark Rylance has joined the cast of the upcoming film, The Nightingale. The film stars sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning in the lead, collaborating for the first time in their careers.

The Nightingale is directed by Michael Morris, with a script written by Dana Stevens. The Fanning sisters are serving as producers under their Lewellen Pictures banner, along with actor Reese Witherspoon, who is producing the film under her Hello Sunshine banner.

Shira Haas, who is known for her performances in Unorthodox and Captain America: Brave New World, has also joined the film. The Nightingale also features Edmund Donovan among its cast.

Based on Kristin Hannah's novel of the same name, The Nightingale follows two sisters in France, during WWII, as they fight for love and survival.

Rylance is an Oscar winning actor, who won for his performance as the Soviet spy, Rudolf Abel, in Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies.
